Students dance to bring awareness to domestic violence

There are many instances of domestic violence in Illinois each year. The abuse can be in the form of emotional or physical abuse and could be towards spouses, significant others or children. These occurrences could have devastating consequences for the victim and the family as a whole. For many, it can be embarrassing and they do not tell anyone about it. Furthermore, it is often the case that the victim is scared of the possible retaliation if they ever tell someone about it. So the biggest hurdle to stopping domestic violence is the first step of telling someone about it.

Tyrese's ex denies him custodial parenting time

In Illinois, many parents have custody orders and visitation schedules. These orders determine when each parent will see and care for the child. Most child custody orders indicate who will be picking up the child or dropping off the child. For the most part, these exchanges occur without any problems, even if the parents are not getting along. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, for one reason or another, a parent may not want to give the child to the other parent. When this occurs, a conflict generally arises and the custody order may need to be revisited in court.

Changing your name after divorce

Every name has a story. If a woman has changed her last name after marriage she may choose to change it back to her maiden name after a divorce in order to facilitate moving on from the relationship.

Woman steals check in order to pay child support

In Illinois, the State has an interest in making sure children's financial needs are being met. For children who have unmarried parents, one way the State ensures this is through child support. Many parents find themselves paying child support for a long time as they are required to pay it until the child turns 18 in most cases. Over the course of a child's life, circumstances change though and some parents find it difficult to pay the court ordered child support. In response many parents simply stop paying it and find themselves in arrears.

Adoptions from Ukraine increasing in popularity

Adoption can be a complicated area of family law, but it is also a rewarding one for the families. There are many reasons why people in Illinois adopt children. Sometimes a child is adopted by a step-parent or by another relative if the biological parents can no longer care for the child. Other times the couple attempting to adopt is not able to have children of their own or they may be a same sex couple and want to have a family. In these cases, people can adopt children living in the United States or look internationally to adopt a child.
