Issues couples may not be able to overcome

Infidelity, money issues and dislike for each other are a few reasons why Illinois couples decide to end their marriages. When a person cheats on either a physical or emotional level, it can result in a significant loss of trust that may not be able to be rebuilt. In some cases, it only takes one incident to potentially put an end to a marriage.

If one or both parties in a marriage are having issues with addiction, that too could put strain on a relationship. This may be especially true if money is being spent to further the addiction at the expense of the household. Addictions could range from substance abuse problems to spending too many hours at work. At some point, that person's partner may say that the problem is too far gone to solve and decide to leave the relationship.

For some individuals, situations come up that they didn't expect to happen. For instance, a health problem or the death of a child could take an emotional toll on a person and put a relationship to the test. In some cases, that event is too much for a couple to take, and it results in the relationship coming to an end. However, it may be possible to overcome these issues by letting each person grieve in their own way.

A divorce may mean that an individual has to pay spousal support or divide marital property with his or her former spouse. Parents may also have to deal with paying child support or seeing their child on a limited basis. While prenuptial or other agreements may help an individual obtain a favorable outcome in a divorce case, litigation may be necessary. An attorney may be able to represent an individual in a formal divorce trial.
